Manufacturer’s Comments: This trumpet has a ML bore of .460 (11.7mm) and is an all-around trumpet with a particular nod towards the crossover player who demands an extremely versatile instrument. Developed in collaboration with the US-based trumpeter, Trent Austin, the horn features a warm sound when played at a softer dynamic with good overall sound dispersion and colors. Once you push the instrument volume-wise, the horn becomes more refined and energized.

Bell Treatment Options:

Soldered
A soldered bell tends to have a very centered sound with a lot of core (fundamental). The articulations are slightly dampened and softer with the solder, while the sound is more direct and compact.

Unsoldered
An unsoldered bell has a very wide sound with more overtones. Articulations are easier with an unsoldered rim. More near feel is apparent with these bells as the sound is wider, which helps give the player more feedback.

Tempered
Tempering occurs when a bell is spun twice on a mandrel which work hardens the bell. This adds brilliance and color to the sound.

Double Buffed
Double buffing thins the bell slightly. It actually creates a thickness in between any two gauges.

Heat Treated
Heat treating is a baking of the entire bell. This softens the metal immensely and creates a very dark sound. This works best on heavier bells as it tends to free them up. Heat treating is not recommended on thinner bells as it makes them more prone to mute dents. The CF treatment has virtually replaced heat treating.

CF Treated
CF treating is a partial heat treating process. This treatment allows the bell to blow more freely and adds color to the sound.

Improved response compared to the YEP-642.

Bow Guards
The improved longer bow guards feature an enclosed wire for aided protection.

New Design For Holding Tube
Promotes easier hand position for holding the instrument.

First Valve Tuning Slide
A shorter 1st valve tuning slide makes for better overall intonation.

Monel Pistons
Monel pistons are resistant to corrosion and are an ideal choice for professional baritone pistons which must retain precise fit and smooth action over many years.

Hand-Lapped Valves and Slides
Hand-lapping valves and slides ensures an absolutely perfect fit and seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts. Such a perfect fit helps to achieve smooth air flow and smooth action and improve the response and intonation of the instrument.

Pressure-Formed Tubing
Perfectly rounded tubing results in less turbulence and a smoother air flow, thus allowing for an excellent scale and reduced resistance.

Compensating System
The compensating system found on the YEP-842S ensures accurate tuning on all notes throughout the instrument’s range, particularly in the difficult low range.

Bell Taper And Leadpipe Design
The combination of the bell taper and the ‘open’ leadpipe is designed for greater projection, control and response.

Intonation
True and centered intonation makes this great euphonium even better!
